Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi could travel to London in the coming days to discuss a move to Arsenal, according to reports.
It’s no longer a secret that Wenger is in search of a centre forward to strengthen the team. The French tactician has been working hard to bring in a new striker at the Emirates but his efforts are yet to yield a positive fruit.
Arsenal recently had a £29.5m bid rejected for Lyon’s striker Alexandre Lacazette and it is thought that the club is preparing an improved £35m bid which still falls short of Lyon’s valuation.
It appears Wenger is now prepared to turn his attention to Inter Milan’s Mauro Icard, should a move for Lacazette fail.
According to Gazetta Dello Sport via the Daily Express, Mauro Icardi would travel to London in the coming days to find out if the Gunners are really serious about signing him.
The striker’s agent Wanda Nara has revealed that the striker is open to a move away from the San Siro.
She told Gazetta Dello Sport: “Mauro was assured of a contract extension as soon as the club’s financial troubles had been resolved.
“If Inter do not want to appreciate Icardi and then sharply change his value according to their own point of view, they know they run the risk of losing him.”
Icardi is currently valued at £50m and would be a quality addition to our squad.
