Arsene Wenger has backed youngster Krystian Bielik to make an impact in the first team this season.
The talented teenager has been promoted to the club’s first team squad and he is expected to play an important role.
Wenger is confident the teenager will make an impact even though he wouldn’t be deployed in his natural position. Bielik, a midfielder by trade is set to feature for the Gunners as a centre back this season and Wenger believes he has all the ingredients to succeed in the position.
He said: “He has all the ingredients of a top-level centre-back. He’s missing one thing – experience in this position.
“I converted him to a centre back because I felt he could play the type of football we want to play as a centre back.
“Most of the time this is a position for experienced players, because every mistake in the Premier League you pay for with a goal.
“What I try to achieve this season with him is to work on his positional play and give him some games. If in December he’s not ready, I will try to get him to play somewhere [on loan].”
Bielik was part of the squad that traveled to the United states for the preseason tour and he impressed in the club’s latest game against MLS xi.
