Arsenal have suffered a huge setback in its attempt to sign Wolfsburg’s Julian Draxler. The Gunners are rumored to be interested in the forward but it appears Wenger would be left disappointed as Wolfsburg are not prepared to entertain any offer for the player.
Wenger is very keen on improving his attacking options and has reportedly identified Draxler as a potential target.
It is understood the player is open to a move to the Emirates and has informed his club of his desire to leave should a suitable offer comes in.
Wolfsburg are refusing to let the forward leave the club and have now issued a statement, warning potential suitors that they won’t entertain any offer for the 22-year-old German.
A statement on Wolfsburg official Website read:
“VfL Wolfsburg will not be selling Julian Draxler during the course of the current transfer period.”
“In joint discussions with Julian Draxler, VfL Wolfsburg again made it clear that they would not be granting the player’s wish to make a move. We now consider any possible uncertainties to have been eradicated and that all parties can revert back to a professional and responsible collaboration for the good of VfL Wolfsburg and, in particular, for our fans.”
Everton are also keen on the forward and would also face the same disappointment as Arsenal.
