Arsenal have joined West Ham in the race to sign Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, according to reports.
Wenger is keen on signing a striker this summer, the French tactician has made attempts to bring a centre forward to the Emirates but has so far been unsuccessful in his attempts.
According to Calcio News via HITC Sport, the Gunners have now turned their attention to Mandzukic.
The Croatian’s future at Juventus is now in doubt following the club’s capture of Gonzalo Higuain. The striker failed to impress at the Turin club last season scoring just 13 goals in 35 appearances and could now be given a reduced role next season due to the arrival of Higuain.
Arsenal are currently working on a deal to sign Alexandre Lacazette and with Wenger unwilling to match Lyon’s price tag, Mandzukic is seen as a fall back option which would definitely be cheaper.
The 30 year old might not be in the class of forward the Gooners are yearning for, but the striker is very experienced and has played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund are also keen on the striker and could rival Arsenal for his services should Wenger firm up his interest.
