Arsenal are leading the race to sign Charlton Athletic striker Ademola Lookman, according to reports.
The youngster has been impressive for Charlton since breaking into its first team last November and has since then been linked with a number of Premier League clubs.
Arsenal have been one of the clubs constantly linked with the forward and it appears Wenger is seriously interested in the striker. However, we are not alone in the race to sign the Charlton man with three other Premier League clubs also interested in his services
According to the Mirror via the Express, Arsenal and Liverpool are leading the race to sign the forward.
Southampton and Tottenham are also said to be interested in the striker but are behind in the race for his signature.
The four clubs monitored the forward in this summer’s U-19 European Championships and were all impressed with his performances.
However, Charlton have told interested clubs they are not prepared to sell but the report claims a bid of £2m could force the Addicks into selling the 18-year-old.
The striker scored five goals in 16 appearances last season and is being tipped for big things this term.
Wenger recently stated he is scouting the lower leagues for talented players and it wouldn’t be surprising if the club eventually steps up its interest in Lookman before the end of the transfer window.
