Shkodran’s Mustafi’s dad Kujtim Mustafi has denied reports that his son has reached an agreement with Arsenal, according to the Daily Star.
Football agent Ali Bulut claimed the defender was on the verge of joining Arsenal, having agreed a deal with the club but the player’s dad has quickly denied those claims.
Bulut said: “Shkodran and Arsenal have reached an agreement, the clubs now only have to agree on the fee.”
According to Mustafi Snr, the defender has not entered into talks with Arsenal and no agreement has been reached.
Spanish newspaper Super Derporte claimed the defender’s father informed them that Bulut does not represent his son.
The report also claimed, Arsenal are among a number of clubs to have shown an interest in signing the defender but Valencia are unwilling to sell. This is contrary to reports in the English media claiming Valencia are prepared to sell even for a fee less than his release clause.
Arsenal are still expected to push through a deal to sign the defender this summer. The club are currently going through a defensive crisis after losing two of its senior centre backs to injury and Wenger’s top target is Mustafi.
Should a deal for Mustafi prove difficult to complete, Wenger would turn his attention to other targets. West Brom’s Johnny Evans and Swansea’s Federico Fernandez are believed to be on French man’s short list.
