Arsene Wenger has reiterated he will only sign players that would improve his team and would not be rushed into signing players before the end of the transfer window.
Fans have been calling for the French man to splash the cash in the transfer market but the boss has revealed he is happy with his players and is in to hurry to freshen up the squad.
Speaking before the club’s game against Liverpool, the boss said there was no reason signing players because rivals are doing so.
“Vibrancy doesn’t make you win games,” he said. “What makes you win games is the quality of the performance and the quality of your football. And you have to focus just on that.
“That is very difficult in the modern game. There is always demand for new but new is just new.
“What is new makes news, but apart from that it makes noise. The noise is not necessarily always quality.”
Wenger also appeared to rule out signing a striker this summer, the French man has been working on a deal to sign Olympic Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette but his efforts have so far been frustrated by the French club. When asked if he would turn to other targets, Wenger said:
“We have [Alexis] Sanchez, we have [Theo] Walcott.”
He added: “We were the highest team in expected chances created. We were the highest team in quality of chances created in the final third.
“And we were not at our level in the finishing qualities and I think that’s where we want to improve.”
