Arsenal’s move for Shkodran Mustafi has stalled, according to reports.
Arsenal have been in talks with Valencia over the services of the defender but both clubs have been unable to reach an agreement.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are willing to pay £20m for Mustafi but Valencia are holding out for at least a £25m fee.
Both clubs are still in talks but a deal is becoming complicated as a result of interests in Valencia’s other centre back Aymen Abdenour.
Abdenour is also attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Everton and the Spanish club are unwilling to sell both Mustafi and Abdenour this summer.
It is believed Valencia would prefer to keep Mustafi and have offered Abdenour to Arsenal but Wenger has turned down the offer as Mustafi is his priority target.
Arsene Wenger is expected to face Leicester City with the same centre back pairing that faced Liverpool on Sunday as he is unlikely to sign Mustafi in time for the City game and he is unlikely to rush Koscielny back into the starting xi.
Wenger has already lined up alternative targets should a move for Mustafi falls through and has lined up West Brom’s Johnny Evans, Bayer Leverkusen’s Omer Toprak and Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjaer as alternative targets.
