Spanish Jounalist Guillem Balague has explained why he thinks Arsenal are struggling to agree a fee with Valencia for Shkodran Mustafi.
Arsenal have been in talks with Valencia as regards signing Mustafi but both clubs are yet to reach an agreement.
Balague believes both clubs have reservations about the move and have been reluctant to agree to each other’s terms.
“Valencia as a club need to sell,” he sais, as quoted by HITC Sports. “The Valencia coaching staff want to keep Mustafi. Arsenal are not paying what Valencia want which is near €40m.
“Valencia are also saying they do not want to sell a key player in the last week of the transfer window. Arsenal say they do not want to pay ahead of his real value. So that is where we are.”
Balague also stated he doesn’t think Mustafi is good enough for Arsenal but stressed the player would cost the club a huge fee.
“I do not think Mustafi is good enough for Arsenal but there are not many good centre-backs available in the market right now,” Balague added . “He would be a slight improvement on their current centre-backs but he is not worth the fee suggested.”
Arsene Wenger is believed to be keeping his options open and should the club be unable to reach an agreement with Valencia, we would turn to other targets.
