Arsene Wenger remains in the market for a couple of new signings, according to Standard Sport.
The Gunners’ boss has been frustrated in his attempts to sign a striker so far but he insists he is still looking out for reinforcements.
Wenger has been unlucky with injuries this summer, losing Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista to injuries, the French man’s woes has been compounded as both Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi were withdrawn from the game against Liverpool due to injuries. Wenger has now revealed he is still working on signing new players before the end of the transfer window but won’t be making panic buys.
“We need some players back and of course I’ve said many times before we are working very hard still to get one or two more players in,” he said.
“It’s always desperate because there’s not much time left but I don’t know what you’d call desperate, it has to make sense and be quality.
“We’ve done that [spent big] before, but it’s about identifying the players and the availability of the players.”
The club are already closing in on Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi as reports claims he will complete Arsenal medicals on monday and Wenger would still attempt to sign a striker before the end of the transfer window should the right quality becomes available.
