Olympic Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has revealed he won’t be joining Arsenal this summer.
The striker is one of Wenger’s target to strengthen the team but a move for the striker appears to be off as the player has revealed he is happy at Lyon.
Arsenal reportedly tabled a £29.5m bid for the striker in June which was knocked back by Lyon. The club were tipped to return with an improved offer but that won’t be happening as the player has now revealed he won’t be joining Arsenal this summer.
Speaking after Lyon’s league game against Caen on Friday, Lacazette said:
“From a personal standpoint, I would like to pass the 30 goals threshold this season,”
“There will be no departure. Everything is going well here at OL [Lyon].”
The news will come as a big blow to Arsenal fans who were hoping the club find a way to lure Lacazette to the Emirates before the end of the transfer window.
The striker has already scored 5 goals in 2 league games this season.
Wenger is still in search of world class striker who would improve his squad considerably and should Lacazette continue his fine form, the club could rue missing out on the 25 year old.
