Chelsea are interested in signing Arsenal target Ricardo Rodriguez, according to reports.
The Gunners had been linked with the Switzerland fullback earlier in the summer but it appears Wenger has cooled his interest in the left back and has turned his attentions to signing a centre back.
Rodriguez, who plies his trade for German side VFL Wolfsburg has consistently performed on the highest level in the last few years and is said to be attracting interests from top clubs across Europe.
According to the Mirror via the Metro, Chelsea are keen to sign a quality full back and have identified Rodriguez as a possible target.
The defender, in July revealed he was interested in a move away from Wolfsburg and was immediately linked with a move to Real Madrid and Arsenal.
However, Madrid passed up the opportunity to sign the defender while Wenger believes there are other positions in the squad that is of higher priority, giving Chelsea the advantage in the race to sign the defender. The West London club are now ready to push through a £22m move for the 23 year old this week.
Wenger seems satisfied with Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs as his left back options and could postpone any move for a left back until next summer.
