Arsenal are close to signing Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi for a fee of £25.9m, according to a reports.
Arsenal have been working on a deal to sign the German international and have been in talks with Valencia for over two weeks. It appears both clubs are now close to reaching an agreement and a deal could be announced on Wednesday.
Sky Sports Journalist Guillem Balague claimed via his twitter account that Valencia are prepared to sell the defender due to their financial troubles and would accept a bid of £26m. Wenger had been reluctant to meet Valencia’s demands because he isn’t too sure if the player is good enough to strengthen our squad.
“VFC happy 2 sell for around €30m as they down €10m with FFP. But would rather sell others. AFC want him. Not sure he’s good enough”
The defender became Arsenal’s priority target after the club lost Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista to injuries.
Another Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli claims Arsenal have already tabled a bid that matches Valencia’s demand and are now working on the final details.
” Arsenal offer €25mln plus €5mln additional bonus fees.”
Mustafi has three years left in his contract at Valencia but the player is open to a move to the Emirates and have been training alone ahead of a potential move to Arsenal.
