Brentford are on the verge of signing Arsenal midfielder Chris Willock on a season long loan, according to reports.
According to Get West London Sport via the Daily Star, Brentford are interested in signing Willock and Arsenal are open to the idea of sending the player out on loan to enable him gain first team experience.
Willock is highly rated at the Emirates and has been training with the first team for sometime but he is yet to make his competitive debut for the club. The Championship side are now offering the player the opportunity to develop his game and Arsenal are seriously considering the offer.
Big things are expected of Willock at Arsenal and many expect him to become a first team player for the club in a few years time. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is one of those who believes Willock can succeed at the Emirates.
Wilshere said: “I’ve played with Chris for a few years in training and last year he came on tour.”
“I think he has improved, he has become stronger and he is one of those players that have a natural ability running with the ball.
“He can take contact well if someone smashes into him. He has got great balance… if Chris gets his chance I’m sure he will take it.”
Should Willock complete a move to Brentford, he will join the likes of Wojciech Szczesny, Rhys Murphy, Chuba Akpom and Jon Toral as Arsenal players that have had temporary spells at the Championship club.
