Arsenal are interested in signing FC Porto winger Yacine Brahimi, according to reports in Portugal.
Arsene Wenger is interested in strengthening the squad this summer and has made signing a centre back and a striker his priority but reports continue to suggest the French man is interested in a winger.
The club have already been linked with Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez this summer and Brahimi appears to have joined the duo on the club’s list.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claims Brahimi is attracting the interest of a number of clubs outside Portugal and names Arsenal as one of those clubs.
The report also suggests, Arsenal’s chance of signing the winger is slim as Wenger is only prepared to pay £13m for his services but Porto have placed a £26m price tag on the player.
FC Porto own 50% of the player’s economic rights while the other 50% is owned by a sport agency and both parties are keen to sell the winger for as high as possible.
Arsenal’s interest in the winger is a little surprising as the club appears to be well stocked in numbers on the wings and we would only be able to accommodate another winger if we allow one of the wingers currently on our books leave the club.
However, Brahimi is a decent player and has impressed in the Portuguese league since he moved to Porto two years ago, whether he would be able to make such impact in the Premier League is another question.
The player currently boasts a record of 22 goals and 20 assists for the Portuguese giants.
However, any move for Brahimi will be on hold as Wenger is currently focused on signing a centre back and until we complete the signing of a defender, we don’t expect any new development in terms of signing a winger.
