Arsenal target Mauro Icardi is set to jet-in to London to open talks about a potential move the Premier League this summer.
Icardi is being linked with a move to the Emirates as Wenger searches for a striker to compete with Olivier Giroud this season. The club had indicated it’s interest in signing the striker but his club Inter Milan claimed they weren’t going to sell the striker at any price. It now appears the Italian club have softened their stand and are prepared to sell their star striker should they receive a massive bid before the end of the transfer window.
According to Italian media outlet II Messagero, Icardi will travel to London in the next few days to hold talks with Arsenal officials.
However, we aren’t the only Premier League club interested in the Argentine striker, West London rivals Chelsea are also keen on the striker but it is unknown if the player will hold talks with Blues officials also.
Inter Milan are expected to demand a whooping €60m fee for Icardi and it is unlikely Wenger would pay that much for the striker.
Icardi is regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation but knowing Wenger’s frugal nature in the transfer market, we are unlikely to sign the striker for that fee unless Inter reduces their demand.
