Olympic Lyon boss Bruno Genesio has claimed Alexandre Lacazette will not be leaving the club this summer.
Arsenal were said to be interested in the forward but it appears the move won’t be happening.
Arsenal had a £29.5m bid rejected for the striker in June and has since been tipped to return with an improved bid but Lyon boss Genesio has ruled out the sale of the striker this summer.
“There is no uncertainty with regards to Alexandre Lacazette,” Genesio said.
“He needs to feel loved. He is and he will stay at Lyon.”
Genesio’s comments confirms Lyon’s previous warning that they won’t be selling the striker this summer.
Lyon publicly warned Arsenal off the striker after rejecting the initial bid for the striker’s services.
A statement in the French club’s official website in July, read:
‘The reality is that the club Arsenal made an offer worth €35m, which Lyon did not follow up on for one reason: OL will keep Alexandre Lacazette who is irreplaceable and who is one of the main leaders in Bruno Genesio’s squad.’
Wenger has now turned his attention to signing a centre back and has claimed he would only sign a striker should a world class target become available.
