According to reports making the round, Arsenal could sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-half Omer Toprak as an alternative to Shkodran Mustafi should they fail to sign him this summer.
Now, fresh report has surfaced claiming Bayer Leverkusen have now signed a possible replacement for Toprak who is set to join Arsenal this week, the German club signed Aleksander Dragovic on a five-year deal from Dynamo Kiev.
Arsenal are in dire need of a defender this summer having fall short of players due to injury with Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista still out injured.
However, it seems a deal for Mustafi to Arsenal is off as Skysport reporter Guillem Balague announced on Sunday that Valencia are not willing to sell Mustafi to the Gunners, despite triggering his €50 million (£43 million) release clause in order to land him.
VFC don’t want to sell and are saying he wont go! He’ll play tomorrow. Only doubt: will AFC pay €50m buyout clause?https://t.co/mcNxbLoems
