Arsene Wenger is eyeing a move for Fiorentina defender Davide Astori, according to reports.
Wenger is currently in search of a centre back, the club have been in talks to sign Shkodran Mustafi and with the window closing in a fortnight, the boss has decided to expand his search and is now monitoring a long list of targets including the Italian.
The club are believed to have made signing Mustafi its priority but talks with the player’s club have dragged on for so long. Both clubs are believed to be apart in terms of their valuation for German and Wenger is not prepared to be held to ransome.
The French boss has now drawn up a list of alternative targets and it appears Astori features on the boss’ short list.
According to Italian publication Gazzamercato via the Daily Star, Wenger have made enquiries about signing the defender this summer.
Wenger recently said he is in search of an experienced defender to strengthen the injury ravaged defense and Astori definitely fits the bill of an experienced player.
Astori has been impressive for Fiorentina since he made a move to Fiorentina in 2015 and would definitely be a decent addition to our squad. However it is not known how much the player would cost but at 29 years, he is not expected to be an expensive signing.
