Arsenal new signing Lucas Perez has ended all critics insisting he wasn’t a panic buy, revealing Arsene Wenger has been tracking him in a long time.

The Gunners were linked with a host of big name striker this summer and even had a 20 million pounds bid snubbed by Leicester City’s striker Jamie Vardy.

However, Arsenal officially settled for the 27-year-old Uncapped Spaniard striker as they officially confirmed him as an Arsenal player on Tuesday after they agreed to pay in full his £17 million release clause in his Deportivo La Coruna contract.

‘Well, there was some contact when the transfer window opened,’ said Perez. ‘As always in football, clubs have to evaluate what they need, but they showed interest when they got in contact. Things happened more quickly towards the end of the window so it could be made official.

‘I’m really excited. Massively so, I want to show what I’m about, get stuck into playing and perform well.’

Now, Arsenal Celebrity fan Piers Morgan has taken to his twitter handle to spread his strong opinions on everything from Arsene Wenger’s future to Stan Kroenke’s ownership, and Arsene Wenger’s new striker. He had a dig at the uncapped Spaniard striker claiming he had “never heard” of him before he joined Arsenal.Welcome Lucas Pérez.

I’d never heard of you but wish you every success. #afc
