Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed why Thierry Henry left the club in the summer, via the Metro.
The former striker was offered the chance to work with the club’s youth team at the end of last season but left the club few weeks after accepting the role.
It was claimed Wenger forced him out of the club and the boss has been criticized as a result.
Wenger has now revealed, the decision was best for all parties, claiming it was not easy for Henry to analyze the club as a pundit and also carry out his coaching duties.
‘There was a lot of debate about Thierry Henry not staying here. I think Thierry Henry has done an exceptional job here but it is an uncomfortable position for him,’ he told Arsenal Magazine.
‘He agreed that it was not easy for him to deal with talking about Arsenal during the weekend and then coming in.
‘You want him to be free from his statements and it’s always difficult for him to be really objective sometimes, and even a bit harsh, and then come in and face the players. It will be easier for him.’
Henry is currently working with Roberto Martinez as Belgium’s assistant manager and also fulfilling his role as a pundit.
