Arsenal were offered the opportunity to sign Daniel Sturridge on loan hours before the transfer window closed, according to reports.
Wenger spent almost the entire summer searching for a striker. He failed to sign some of his targets at the beginning of the transfer window but found a breakthrough few days to the end.
According to the Metro, Arsenal had the opportunity to sign another striker after it had completed the signing of Lucas Perez.
Sturridge’s agent offered the striker to Arsenal on transfer deadline day but the move was blocked by Liverpool.
The striker’s representative wanted him to leave Anfield but Liverpool had not given their approval and the Reds blocked the move because they were not interested in letting the player leave
However, Arsenal were likely to turn down the chance to sign Sturridge because it had already completed the signing of Perez.
Sturridge who played for Manchester City and Chelsea in the past was an Arsenal fan as a young boy and might have jumped at the opportunity of moving to the Emirates.
Despite his injury worries, he has proven to be one of the best English strikers in the league and should he stay fit, he would be a great asset to any team.
