Arsenal could have the chance to sign Olympic Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette next summer, according to reports in France.
Arsenal wanted to sign the striker this summer but were unable to convince Lyon to part with the 25-year-old. The club submitted an opening bid of €35m which was rejected and subsequent attempts to negotiate a deal with the French club was unsuccessful.
Lacazette is now set to stay at Lyon until next summer at least and the French club wants to offer him a new deal. The deal would be a five-year contract worth around €6.5m per season. The French club
The French club have already contacted the player’s agent as regards the new deal but both parties are looking at the possibility of including a release clause.
The French Ligue 1 does not allow release clause to be included in a player’s contract but L’Equipe via Sports Witness is claiming the club and the striker’s representative could agree to a release clause via a private agreement.
It is claimed the clause would be around €70m, twice the amount Arsenal offered for the striker this summer.
Lacazette has already scored six goals this season having played just 3 games and should he have a wonderful season, Wenger could return for his services next summer.
