Arsenal are confident of tying Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez down to new contracts, according to the Express.

The club has been in discussions with the two players over a new contract since May and now believes an agreement will soon be reached with them.

The two players placed talks on hold during the summer holiday to focus on international duties and now that the break is over, Arsenal are positive they will soon commit their future to the club.

Ozil and Sanchez were linked with moves away from the Emirates in the summer transfer window and the new contract is expected to put an end to speculation about their future.

Arsenal are prepared to hand the duo new contracts worth around £200,000 a week which will make them the highest earners at the club.

It is believed that the arrival of Shkodran Mustafi has already convinced Ozil to stay at the club but Sanchez is demanding the inclusion of a release clause in his new contract before he signs.

In the summer, Wenger revealed he has no fears about the duo’s future, saying is confident they will extend their contract at the club. Goal now claims the belief at the club hasn’t changed and everyone is still confident the duo will sign new contracts before the end of the season.

The two players are currently the highest paid players in the club with the duo earning around £140,000. The new deal will further widen the gap between them and other players of the squad in the club’s wage bill. One could say they deserve it because of their importance to the club.
