Just weeks after the close of the summer transfer window, Arsene Wenger has turned his attentions to the future. The French tactician whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign is working very hard to build a solid future for the club.
Last week Arsenal scouts were sent to watch Belgium youngster Youri Tielemans in action and now reports in Italy are claiming the club are also monitoring another young midfielder, Panagiotis Armenakas.
Armenakas, 18, is an attacking midfielder by trade and currently plays for Italian club Udinese. The playmaker is yet to make his first team debut for the Serie A outfit but his performances for the club’s academy have been impressive and Wenger is now keeping tabs on his progress.
According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web via the Daily Star, Arsenal are Interested in the playmaker and could make a move for him the future.
Manchester United are also keen on the midfielder and the Old Trafford club have also sent scouts to watch him.
The youngster is not a stranger to the Premier League as he has already spent two years at Watford before he joined Udinese at age 16.
Arsene Wenger has a good history of working with youngsters. The French man has been able to help a number of young players develop into top players and Armenakas could be the next in line to work with the French man.
Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerin have developed into key players for Arsenal in recent years under the tutelage of the French tactician and should Armenekas move to the Emirates, he is certain to have a big future at the club as long as he stays grounded.
