Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has revealed he is desperate to get more game time at the club.
The striker started in the league cup game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night and impressed with his performances. Although he didn’t get on the score sheet, he helped the team secure a 4-0 victory over the Championship side and he is keen to get more minutes .
Wenger decided against sending the forward out on loan this summer and he is keen to make the most of his opportunities at Arsenal.
“Hopefully more games and more minutes,” Akpom said when asked what the future holds.
“The feeling of just going out there with an Arsenal top on and just playing is the best feeling and that’s the feeling that I want to have.
“I’ve just got to keep working hard in training and keep working hard to just get out there and get as many minutes as I can.”
The striker was deployed out wide on Tuesday and he has revealed he is happy to play anywhere for the club as long as he gets game time.
“I think right now I’d play anywhere, I’d play in goal just to get minutes, just to be involved in the team,” he said .
“I didn’t mind playing on the wing today, I’ll play anywhere the boss wants me to play, but today it was still an attacking position and I just tried to be as much of a threat as I could.”
Akpom has gone out on loan to four different clubs and it is no surprise he is desperate to cease the opportunity Wenger has given him this season. He will have to work hard as he has to compete with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Lucas Perez, Olivier Giroud for a place in the match day squad.
The forward will be hoping he did enough to earn a place in the squad that will face Chelsea on Saturday.
