Arsenal summer signing Lucas Perez has already impressed his teammates, according to ex Gunner Freddie Ljungberg.

Perez completed a £17m move to the Emirates in the final days of the summer transfer window and he has already surprised his mates at Arsenal with his quality.

The striker made his debut against Southampton few weeks ago but didn’t really impress in that game and many pundits have begun to question whether he is the world class striker Arsenal needs.

Ljungberg has now revealed Perez has already proved his worth to his teammates and the former Arsenal winger is now tipping the Spaniard to be a hit at the club alongside new signing Granit Xhaka.

‘Xhaka, I’ve seen him quite a lot and he’s very good,’ Ljungberg told Sky Sports, as quoted by the Metro.

‘He’s a hard-working midfielder with a great left foot, like we had with [Emmanuel] Petit.

‘I’ve heard on Lucas that he’s impressed a lot of people on the training ground.

‘I think some people wanted some signings in the summer but everyone knows English clubs have a lot of money at the moment and if you ask for a player they raise the prices. He managed to get the players in the end.’

Lucas impressed fans when he opened his goal-scoring account for Arsenal with a quick fire brace against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. Big things are expected of the striker this season and should he live up to expectations, he could just be the big striker that the fans have been yearning for all these years.

The striker scored 17 goals and made 11 assists at Deportivo La Coruna.
