Arsenal have commenced searching for possible replacements to Hector Bellerin, according to reports.
European giants Manchester City and Barcelona are reportedly interested in the Spaniard and are looking to tempt him away from the Emirates.
Arsenal do not want to sell the defender and are hoping to tie him down to a new contract. However the club are struggling to agree a new deal with him, reports in Spain are claiming the youngster is still mulling over his future as he wants to wait and see if Wenger would remain at the club or not.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola via Sports Witness, Arsenal are monitoring Benfica right-back Nelson Semedo.
The defender has a €60m release clause in his contract at Benfica and the Portuguese club will not want to sell him on a cheap.
Wenger will have to activate the release clause or offer a bid close to it in order to convince the Portuguese giants to sell the 22 year old.
Semedo’s chase makes sense because in football you never can tell what the future holds. Barcelona may decide to go all out on Bellerin and no one knows how the defender might react to the Spanish club’s pressure.
Although Bellerin has claimed he is happy at the Emirates, it would be safer for the club to have options should the Spaniard change his mind.
