Arsenal summer target Antoinne Greizmann has revealed he snubbed a move away from Atletico Madrid in the summer amidst interest from a number of big clubs.
Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain were keen on the forward in the summer transfer window but neither could convince him to leave the Vincente Calderon.
Reports claimed Wenger made signing the striker his priority but was told there was no chance of the player switching clubs.
Greizmann has now confirmed there were clubs interested in his services and the 25-year-old also revealed PSG pushed the most to sign him in the summer but he turned down a move to the French club.
When asked about PSG’s interest, the striker said:
“Yes, but as it was during Euros I told my agent I did not want to listen.
“I told him: ‘I do not want you talking to me of Atletico or Paris – I want you to leave me in Clairefontaine.’
“But I know they were very interested.
“They are a big club that wants to become even bigger.
“I hope for them that they will get there.”
Arsenal were prepared to spend more than £75m on the striker and would have rivalled PSG for his services if he was willing to move. The club hasn’t given up on the striker yet, it is believed we are preparing a move for the striker next summer but Manchester United and Chelsea have also joined the race
It is unknown if PSG will renew their interest at the end of the season but with the quality of the striker, he will not be short of interest in the summer.
