Arsenal are still interested in signing Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports.
The Gunners were interested in signing the 23-year-old striker in the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise as Real Madrid wanted to give him the chance of making it at the Bernabeu. The Spaniard has since signed a new contract at Madrid but it appears Arsenal have not given up on signing him.
According to Spanish Publication Don Balon via the Daily Express, Arsenal and Chelsea are still interested in signing the striker.
London rivals Chelsea were also interested in signing Morata in the summer but couldn’t convince Madrid to sell the striker.
It is believed the two clubs are prepared to battle it out for the striker’s signature should he decide that his future doesn’t lie at the Bernabeu.
Morata revealed earlier this month that he recieved an offer from the Premier League which would have made him the most expensive Spanish player. The offer was believed to be from Chelsea after Arsenal had indicated they won’t be forced to pay over the odds for his services.
It is unknown if the striker would be available for a cheaper fee in the future but that will definitely depend on his performance at Madrid.
Arsenal eventually signed Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna in the final days of the transfer window.
