Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Alexis Sanchez to take his game to the next level.

The Chile international is revelling in his new centre-forward role and Ferdinand has urged him to step up to Thierry Henry’s Level.

Henry is regarded as one of the greatest players in Arsenal history and Ferdinand believes the Chilean can also become one of the best strikers in the club history if he takes his football to the next level.

Sanchez has scored 47 goals in his first 100 appearances, one short of what Henry scored in the same number of games. Henry went on to become the club’s highest goal scorer ever and Ferdinand has urged the Chilean to follow suit.

Ferdinand said: “It is impressive to see that Sanchez has scored 47 goals in his first 100 appearances for the club, just one fewer than Thierry Henry managed in the same amount of time. However, Henry took his game on to another level after that, so the gauntlet has been laid down for him to do the same.

“But there is no doubt that with a statistic like that, he has to be regarded as one of Wenger’s finest buys. To have a record of scoring virtually one goal every two matches is great going.”

Sanchez has been in impressive form since he was converted to the centre forward position. He already has five goals to his name this season and should he continue to improve, he could be devastating to opponent defenders.

Arsenal fans will be hoping Sanchez matches Henry’s achievements as it was a joy watching the  former French international in an Arsenal shirt.
