Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has revealed the player he would love the club to sign.
The 20-year-old playmaker is a product of the club’s academy who broke into the first team last season. He represents the club’s legacy of nurturing talented youngsters for the first team but he has now urged the club to sign a worlD class star.
The midfielder has been a mainstay in Wenger’s starting xi this season and has repaid the manager’s faith with impressive performances. He has now revealed the player he would like to line up alongside at the Emirates is Barcelona’s Neymar Jr.
When asked in an interview who he would sign if he is given the chance to sign a player for Arsenal, the Nigerian international snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who are arguably the two best players in the world to pick Neymar.
Iwobi said [via the Daily Star]: “Neymar, he’s entertaining.
“But then again, if we bring in Neymar, that’s my position gone!”
The youngster also revealed facing the Brazilian’s club in the Champions league last season is the highlight of his career so far. Although the Spanish giants knocked out Wenger’s men, it is arguably the midfielder’s biggest game till date.
“My best moment was definitely starting against Barcelona, that was mad,” he added.
“It was such an experience. I’m young, it was my first proper start. I wasn’t even nervous, just excited to play.
“Obviously it’s a nice feeling [Arsene Wenger trusts me], it gives you an extra confidence boost.
“To play in a game of such magnitude, I was buzzing. The fact that
I kept playing a couple of games afterwards showed that he had faith in me.”
The midfielder already has three assists to his name this season and big things are expected of him in the future. The youngster has been impressive since he broke into the first team, should he continue to improve, he can be the club’s golden boy in the future just like Neymar is for Barcelona.
