Arsenal are already preparing for the possible departure of Arsene Wenger when his contract expires at the end of the season. The French man is in the final year of his contract and is yet to decide whether he will renew his contract or not.
Club chiefs have not hidden their desire for him to remain beyond the current campaign but the boss wants to wait until the end of the season before making a decision. There is every possibility he would leave us at the end of the season with reports claiming his decision will be based on the success our title challenge
Wenger’s decision to wait until the end of the season before making a decision is a bit risky for us as a club as it would afford us little or no time to search for a quality replacement. With this in mind, chief executive Ivan Gazidis is already drawing up a contingency plan should Wenger step down when his contract expires.
According to Goal, Arsenal have been preparing for life without Wenger for several months as Gazidis is keen to ensure that there is smooth transition when the boss decides to step down.
Reports claim we are seriously considering AFC Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe as Wenger’s next replacement and are already working on a deal to sign the English man.
Howe’s appointment could divide fans opinion in equal measure as most fans are clamouring for a manager with a good track record of winning titles. However, Howe is an exciting manager whose philosophy is based on attacking football just like Wenger and that could make him a good choice as he would fit into Wenger’s legacy easily.
