Emmanuel Petit Makes FRESH BOLD SHOCKING Statement About Our Title Hope

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes we will not win the league title unless we sign a world class striker.

We have begun the current campaign in fine form, securing 19 points from our first eight games. We have won our last six games which has given us a bit of hope that we have what it takes to challenge for the title this year but Petit believes otherwise.

The former midfielder believes we will fall short in the title race because we don’t have a top striker. We signed Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer but the Spaniard is yet to break into the starting xi.

Alexis Sanchez who has been deployed on the left since he joined us was shifted to the centre forward position and has adapted well, keeping our new signing out of the squad.

However, Petit doesn’t think that Sanchez is the world class striker we need and he claims the lack of a top class striker will be the reason we won’t win the title this year.

‘Even though I love Arsenal and Arsene, I try to stay objective,’ Petit told SFR Sport.

‘They never quite satisfy me, and they often frustrate me.

‘As long as Arsenal don’t have a striker who scores 40 goals a season like Aguero does at Manchester City. That’s what you need in any league: a striker who is one of the best in the world.’

It is true that in a competitive league like the Premier League, one does need a world class striker who can score a lot of goals in a season but it takes more than a single person for a team to be successful, every single player in the squad needs to contribute his quota.  We might not have a 40 goal-a-season striker in our squad but there is every chance of winning the league this season if the team stays focus for the entire campaign. We would be hoping to prove Petit wrong with a title parade at the end of the season.
