Shkodran Mustafi has praised our club’s squad depth and has urged everyone associated with the club to be at their best as we bid to challenge for major honors this year.

Mustafi has been an important member of our squad since he joined in late August and has helped us secure seven consecutive wins across all competitions. The most recent was a 6-0 thrashing of Ludogorets in our third Champions League game of the season.

The game saw a number of fringe players given the opportunity to impress and Mustafi was impressed with the players who got the chance to prove themselves. The defender also stressed the need for the whole squad, the club staffs and the fans to be at their best if we are to fight for the big competitions this season.

“I think if you want to fight for big competitions like the Champions League or Premier League, you need more than 11 players and that’s what we keep saying every day and every training [session],” Mustafi said, as quoted by The Express.

“And everyone knows it. We need all of the people. Not only the players, we need the staff, we need the medical staff, we need the coaches, we need everyone.

“In the end it’s all about details and that’s what makes you win games and I think that the players who came in showed that they are part of the team and as soon as they come in, they give everything.”

Chamberlain, Elneny, Coquelin, Gibbs and Perez were all involved in the game against Ludogorets and their performances indicated that we have the quality to cope in the crucial period of the season when important games will come in quick succession and we will need the whole squad to be actively involved.
