Arsenal Are Seriously Linked With This Manchester United HERO

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, via The Express.

The England international form has been on the decline in recent years and it appears his future at Old Trafford is at stake.

He has featured sparingly for Manchester United this season and recently missed their last two games against Chelsea and Manchester City. Following the heavy defeat to Antonio Conte’s men on Sunday, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to carry out an overhaul of his squad and Rooney is one of the players whose future is under threat.

We have now been mentioned as one of the clubs that could make a move for the striker if Manchester United tells him to find a new club. Bookmakers Ladbrokes have placed us at an odd of 8/1 to sign Rooney.

We are behind his former club Everton who are placed at an odd of 9/2 to resign the England international. However, Ladbrokes acknowledges that the striker would likely move to America with MLS giants LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls leading Arsenal and Everton in the race to sign the 30 year old. The MLS clubs are placed at 7/2 and 4/1 to. sign the striker respectively.

One can’t really place a finger on the source of our links with the striker but I believe it is all imaginations. Arsenal would be better off signing a striker who is at his peak or one with great potential instead of signing one whose good days are behind him.

Rooney has failed to deliver in recent years, he is currently on an astronomical wage package and is almost on the wrong side of 30, making a move to the Emirates even more unlikely.
