Arsenal Are Interested In Signing Me ” Star Breaks Silence About Dream Move

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Naby Keita has revealed Arsenal were one of the clubs that tried to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Keita is not a stranger to some Arsenal fans as there were several reports last season claiming our scouts were keeping tabs on the Guinea midfielder.

At that time, there was no news about us preparing a concrete bid but the midfielder has now revealed we did make a move to sign him in the summer.

Arsenal weren’t the only Premier League clubs interested in the midfielder as three other top clubs from the country also tried to sign him but he snubbed the interest from the Premier League in favor of a move to the Bundesliga.

It is not surprising that Keita was a wanted man in the summer as his impressive displays in the two years he spent at Salzburg got big clubs paying close attention to him but the surprise is that he chose to join a less popular side Red Bull Leipzig.

The midfielder has now opened up on why he rejected offers from top clubs to sign a four year contract at Leipzig.

“Arsenal, Manchester City and Southampton were all interested in signing me and Liverpool as well, although I did not speak with their coach,” Keita told SportNet , as quoted by the Express.

“I did not want to join a big Champions League club right away. It is too early for that. I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga first now.”

Keita scored an impressive 17 goals in 59 league games for Salzburg which is a superb record for a midfielder. The midfielder has started well in the Bundesliga, helping Leipzig sit second on the German topflight table.

I’m sure we will continue to keep tabs on his development in Germany One can’t rule out a future move from us if the midfielder continues his impressive performances at Leipzig.
