My Regrets On Weekend Derby Clash- Arsenal Hero Speaks Out

Arsenal played their first north London derby yesterday and we were forced to settle for a point each despite taking the lead through an own goal from Kevin Wimmer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he was disappointed with the teams performance despite been in control of the game at the first hold of the games.

Speaking to Arsenal official website Wenger revealed: “It was high intensity and we gave a lot in the first half,” the manager told Arsenal Player. “Overall we had dangerous situations in the first half but we didn’t make the most of it. Sometimes that was because the final ball was not good, sometimes that was because we were offside and shouldn’t have been.

“In the second half we dropped a little bit physically and it became a little bit difficult for us. On top of that the penalty looked a bit soft, but you have to swallow it. After that we gave everything but we didn’t find the resources to score.

“I felt it was a bit down to nervousness at the back too. Sometimes we have room to play more. [Sacrificing fluency is] certainly a price we pay to play in the derby. Spurs defended well but we lacked a bit of creativity and technical quality in the final third to be a real danger.

“We are disappointed because we didn’t win but overall we are in a strong position,” Wenger added. “It’s what we make of it now and how consistent we will be. We have been very consistent until now so, even if we are frustrated now, let’s try to transform that into positive energy when the Premier League restarts.”
