The Arrival Of This Star PUSHED Me Away From Playing For Arsenal-Star Reveals

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Jack Wilshere has revealed the arrival of Granit Xhaka forced him out of Arsenal.

The midfielder joined Bournemouth on a season long loan late in the summer transfer window and the decision was actually a surprise to many. It was never thought that the midfielder will leave the club but he shocked many by asking for an exit and he has now opened up on why he decided to leave

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Wilshere revealed missing out on Sam Allardyce first and only England squad forced him to consider his situation at the Emirates.

The midfielder also admitted he was already considering leaving the Emirates after summer signing Granit Xhaka moved ahead of him in Wenger’s pecking order but Allardyce’s decision not to call him up for international duty was the final straw.

Knowing fully well that his chances will be limited and his international career at risk if he had stayed put, Wilshere decided to join Bournemouth.

“August 28, the Sunday [squad announcement date],” he said.

“It was the final straw. It hurt not being there,” he said about missing out on Allardyce’s England squad.

“There were a lot of midfielders and the manager brought another one in,” he added.

“I’d been injured for a while, and I was thinking I was at a stage of my career where I needed to play.

“I’m 24 and I’ve already missed too much football, and if I want to get to where I want to be it’d be no good coming off the bench in every game.”

Wilshere has started well at Bournemouth and has become a key player for the Cherries already. I don’t think anyone at Arsenal has ever doubted his quality but his ability to stay fit has always been the problem. He appears to be doing just fine in that aspect, managing to complete his first 90 minutes in two years last weekend

The move to Bournemouth is expected to help the midfielder improve his fitness and should he be able to, i’m certain he will have a key role in our squad next season irrespective of the quality we have in his position.
