Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has hinted that Arsene Wenger should make a move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez.
Ferdinand who played with the striker at Manchester United believes the Mexican will be a good signing for Arsenal.
Hernandez left Old Trafford for Leverkusen in the summer of 2015 and has been impressive since moving to Germany. Ferdinand who revealed his surprise at Manchester United’s decision to allow him leave Old Trafford has now urged Wenger to bring the striker back to the Premier League, claiming he would guarantee us twenty goals a season.
‘I can’t believe he was allowed to leave,’ Ferdinand told BT Sport, as quoted by The Metro.
‘Even more surprising, he was sold for £7.3 million, that’s an absolute steal.
‘If he played for Spurs he’d score 20 a season, or Arsenal.
‘His movement is so infectious to the team, he’s always on the move.’
It’s a bit surprising that Ferdinand thinks Hernandez can do better than our current options.Taking nothing away from the Mexico international, he has only managed to score 20 goals in a season just once in his career and that was last season. Saying he would guarantee us at least 20 goals a season seems like an exaggeration because he hasn’t done that consistently over the years.
Although Hernandez is a decent striker, I don’t think he is any better than the options we currently have.
