Wenger FINALLY Admits He Regrets His Decision

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

According to a report in Teamtalk, Arsene Wenger regrets not signing Cologne striker Anthony Modeste when he had the opportunity four years ago.

The report claims the striker almost made a move to the Emirates after impressing on loan at Blackburn Rovers in 2012 but a move collapsed.

The striker, now 28 is being linked with Arsenal again, having started this season in fine form.

According to Calciomercato, Arsene Wenger still regrets missing out on the striker and will do everything possible to bring him to the Emirates in the new year.

The striker moved to Bastia the following year after Arsenal’s failed move and made a move to Germany last year after an impressive stint with the French club.

His form this season has alerted Arsene Wenger again and reports claim Wenger is prepared to make a bid for the striker in the January transfer window.

Wenger is reportedly determined to sign a striker in the new year and he believes Modeste who has scored 11 goals in 11 games this season will be a perfect signing.

It’s a bit surprising that we are still being linked with a striker despite having numerous options. Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez have hardly been given a chance this season, not to mention Danny Welbeck who will be returning in the new year and adding another striker to the list will be luxury.

We will have to wait until the new year to find out if Wenger would firm up his interest in Modeste but that looks unlikely considering the number of strikers we have but in football, you never can tell.
