Arsenal are being linked with a move for AS Roma star Leandro Paredes in the winter transfer window but are prepared to wait until next summer to get the Argentine, according to reports.

The young defensive midfielder has reportedly caught the attention of Arsene Wenger with his fine performances for Roma and the boss has already made inquiries about the possibility of signing him.

Paredes is regarded as one of Roma’s most talented midfielders and many believe he can be one of the best in his position in a few years time.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web via HITC Sports, Wenger is fully aware about the midfielder’s potential and is serious about signing him.

Contacts have been made and Roma are aware of our interest in Paredes.

Wenger ideally want to sign Paredes in the winter transfer window but he is aware that it is almost impossible to convince Roma to sell the player mid-season and  he is prepared to wait until next summer.

Paredes has been a key player for Roma this season, making up to 16 appearances in all competitions already.

Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder might bit surprising to some people considering we have so many options in that position but the midfielder is very talented and could be a shrewd signing for the future.

Personally, I don’t think a deal to bring the Argentine to the Emirates will happen anytime soon, considering Roma’s reluctance to sell their best players and Paredes’ contract is not expected to expire until 2019 so they are not under any pressure to sell.

But in football, you never can tell. Anything is possible, especially when it involves cash. We will have to wait and see.
