Good News: Arsenal Target Declares He Wants Arsenal Move In January

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez reportedly wants to leave the Vincente Calderon in the winter transfer window, handing Arsenal a huge boost in our bid to sign him.

Gimenez is said to be one of Wenger’s top target to strengthen the defense next summer as we prepare for the possible departure of Per Mertesaker. However, reports in Spain claim we could be offered the opportunity to sign the defender earlier than expected as he is unhappy at Atletico and wants a change of scenario.

The Uruguayan has featured sparingly for Atletico this season due to injury but he has been left frustrated with Simeone’s decision not to recall him into the starting xi since he returned from injury.

The defender was said to be anxious to play against Real Madrid last weekend but was once again overlooked by his manager. Don Balon via the Daily Star now claims Simeone’s decision made the player unhappy and he now wants to leave the club in the winter transfer window.

This report sounds too good to be true because it isn’t quite long the defender returned from injury and i doubt he will make a decision to change clubs solely because his manager chose to leave him out of the last two games.

Gimenez is a very talented player, but talent alone doesn’t guarantee success. A talented young player must be ready to work hard especially when he suffers a set back and that is what is expected of the young man now that he is finding it difficult to get back into the first team.

For now, I refuse to take this report seriously and will prefer to wait and see how things will unfold in the future but I think a summer deal will be more realistic as Atletico will resist selling the defender mid-season even if wants out.
