Mathieu Debuchy is desperate to leave the Emirates in the winter transfer window, according to reports.

The defender has not featured for Arsenal first team this season and his chances of doing so is very slim as he appears not be in Wenger’s long-term plans. He has been made to gain match fitness by playing with the U23’s and he could be set for a move away from the Emirates in the new year.

The defender is firmly behind Hector Bellerin and Carl Jenkinson in the right-back pecking order, meaning a move away from the Emirates is the only option for the French international if he wants to play top level football.

AS Roma and Galatasaray are rumoured to be interested in signing the defender when the transfer window opens and they have been given a huge boost by a report in French daily, L’Equipe.

The report via Inside Futbol claims the defender is keen to kick-start his career and wants a move away from the Emirates in January.

It isn’t surprising that Debuchy wants out of the Emirates as his long-term future doesn’t appear to be here anymore and a move away seems like the best thing for both Arsenal and the player.

The defender ruined his relationship with Wenger with his public outburst after he completed his loan move to Bordeaux last season and that did a lot of damage to his first team chances.

Wenger will be happy to accept a bid for Debuchy should the right offer come in and it is believed that a bid of about £5m should be enough to sign the defender
