Arsenal are set to open talks with Jack Wilshere over a new contract, according to reports.
The midfielder who is currently on loan at Bournemouth is already attracting interest from a number of top clubs but Arsenal do not want to sell the midfielder.
In a bid to ward off interest in his services, the Gunners are looking to tie the midfielder down to a new long term contract.
Wilshere’s current deal expires at the end of next season and The Sun are claiming the player will be offered new terms before this winter transfer window ends.
Wenger had previously claimed talks to extend the player’s contract will commence in the summer but the player’s superb performances may have now forced the club to bring talks forward.
If confirmed, it will put an end to reports linking the midfielder with a move to Roma and Manchester City.
It will further show that Wenger still has so much faith in the midfielder despite a troubled last couple of seasons at the Emirates.
Wilshere’s quality isn’t in doubt, it’s his fitness that has been the problem but he has so far managed to stay fit for Bournemouth and I think he more than deserves a new deal.
There are doubts within the fan base that Wilshere may not want to return to the Emirates because of the high competition for midfield places in our squad but i’d like to think that as a true Gunner, it’s going to be difficult for him to turn his back at the club.
