Terms And Wage Almost Done- Arsenal Set To Agree Deal With Bundesliga Club for Star

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Gideon Zelalem, according to reports.

Zelalem is regarded as one of Arsenal’s brightest young talents and has been tipped to become a star at the club since he joined in 2013.

He spent last season on loan at Rangers where he impressed which convinced Wenger that the player deserved a chance in Arsenal’s first team this season but the player has struggled to force his way into the boss’ plans, making just two EFL cup appearances till date.

With the January transfer window now in full swing, Arsene Wenger could look into the possibility of sending the youngster out on loan to get more playing time.

Zelalem’s chances of playing for Arsenal in the second half of the season look very slim unless there is a drastic improvement in his level of his performances.

And according to ESPN via the Daily Express, Dortmund are looking to offer Zelalem more first team opportunities.

Zelalem’s quality to play for Arsenal is not in doubt but the 19 year old’s case has been worsened by the fact that he plays in a position which is the most competitive in our squad.

While a move away from the Emirates in search of better first team opportunities will be beneficial to Zelalem’s development, I think the youngster could get the opportunity to prove he can play a role at Arsenal if allowed to stay.

Santi Cazorla is currently out injured, Mohammed Elneny has gone for the AFCON 2017 competition, meaning Zelalem is just behind Ramsey, Xhaka and Coquelin for now. He could get more chances in the first team this January and just one game could change Wenger’s mind.

We’ll have to wait and see if the lad gets the chance and if he will take it when he does.
