Atletico Madrid have pulled out of the race to sign Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.

Sanchez has been linked with a host of clubs since the turn of the new year because of his reluctance to sign a contract extension here.

Atletico were one of the clubs said to be interested in the Chile international but according to reports, Simeone’s men have dropped their interest in our star forward.

The report claims Atletico have been put off by Sanchez’s high wage demands and Arsenal’s asking price.

Spanish Journalist Kike Marin made this claim where he stated Atletico can’t match Arsenal financially and have been forced to pull out of the race to sign the Chilean.

This will come as a huge boost to Gooners who are still hoping we can convince the player to extend his stay here but it’s not all good news.

The report claims Manchester City and Chelsea are still firmly in the race to sign the forward and are hoping they can turn his head if he still hasn’t signed a new deal in the summer.

Sanchez is reportedly demanding a huge increase to his current deal but Arsenal’s wage structure will only allow us offer him around £200,000 weekly which is way short of what the player wants and this is what is believed to have stalled negotiations

The Chilean isn’t the only one putting the club in this situation as Ozil whose contract has 18 months left to run out too is also demanding same wages as the former Barcelona man.

Hopefully, Arsenal can find away of convincing them to pen new deals with us as it will be a big blow to lose our best players.
