Arsenal have been alerted by reports that Paris Saint Germain could sell Blaise Matuidi at the end of the season, according to reports.
The midfielder is reportedly unhappy at the French club and tried to push a move to the Premier League last summer but PSG chief executive officer Nasser Al-Khelaifi wasn’t willing to sell the 29 year old.
According to Gunnersphere.com, PSG are now prepared to let the French man leave the club at the end of this season.
The report claims Arsenal have been watching the midfielder for quite sometime and Juventus who were interested in his services last summer are also said to be monitoring his situation.
Matuidi’s contract at PSG expires at the end of next season and the midfielder is yet to agree a new deal. He was desperate to join Juventus last summer and it is unlikely he will now sign an extension after he was forced to stay put, knowing fully well there will be lots of offers for him. It is only sensible for PSG to consider selling him in order not to lose him for free next summer.
Whether Wenger will step up his reported interest in the midfielder is what I am not sure about. We currently have enough options in the middle of the park and signing Matuidi would overcrowd that position which could result to unhealthy competition, in turn creating a negative morale within the squad.
