Former Germany captain Micheal Ballack has urged Mesut Ozil to snub a new contract at Arsenal and move to Bayern Munich if he wants to win trophies.
Ozil has been one of Arsenal’s main man since he joined in 2013 and was crucial in our back to back FA cup triumphs in 2014 and 2015. However, those are the only titles the German has won at Arsenal and at 28, this is the time he has to win trophies.
It was thought that he had set his sights on bigger silverwares at Arsenal but with our hope of winning the league title this season gradually fading, Ballack has called on the Germany international to move to the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich are said to be keeping tabs on Ozil’s situation as he stalls on signing a contract extension with Arsenal.
The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of next season and Bayern are among a host of top clubs that are interested in signing him this summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal before then.
Speaking to Sport Bild, Ballack said:
‘Mesut is an amazing player. He knows that he is one of the undisputed stars at Arsenal.
‘A lot of clubs would love to have him. But if he wants to win a major title, he has a bigger chance to achieve that at Bayern.’
Well, I don’t think Ozil will listen to Ballack because he stated a few weeks ago that he is happy here. He has been a key man for us since he joined in 2013 and knows he can become a legend here if he stays for a long time.
I believe he will sign a new long term contract here and help us win major titles we have been yearning for.
