Arsene Wenger is eyeing a move to Real Madrid, according to reports.
Wenger’s contract expires at the end of this season but he has yet to decide whether to sign a new contract or not. The club has already offered him a two-year contract extension but he wants to wait until April before making a decision.
Reports claim Wenger is seriously considering his future due to rise in fans unrest and he could decide to step down if he feels Gooners don’t want him anymore.
According to the Telegraph via The Metro, Wenger already knows where he wants to go next if he leaves Arsenal. The report claims the 67-year-old would be keen for his next job to be at Real Madrid.
However, his chances of moving to the Bernabeu is slim as Real don’t look like they will be replacing Zinedine Zidane anytime soon.
The most likely outcome is that he will sign the new two-year deal at Arsenal which will see his salary rise from £8m-£10m a year.
He has already rejected a £30m a year offer from China because he wants to continue in Europe.
There are few clubs that would appeal to Wenger in Europe more than Arsenal, so I think he would stay as long as the club still wants him to. Although some fans might have turned against the tactician, I don’t think it will be enough to force him out of the Emirates.
